Ricks is always the place to start, not too rushed, breakfast and a catch up, and then off on a ride. We went north and then up through Mapleton and Montville, doesn't matter how many times we use that road it's always a good one, hard to keep your eyes on the road with the views though.
We turned right out past Montville, thru Maleny and across the range towards Peachester. That whole ride from Mapleton to the top of the Peachester range is one that most of us will never get tired of. We had a stop at the Malaney Peachester T intersection and waited for a few people. Got off my bike looked back and here was big Craig in the ditch on the side of the road with his bike having a little rest on its side. Apparently he didn't put his kick stand down properly and the bike spat him into the ditch when he was halfway off.
Now there's been talk of "The Dudley Award" which I can tell you, you only have to make the smallest of f--k ups to get (cause I hold it at the moment). Cam says at first "looks like Craigy's got The Dudley Award", but no, in the "Articles" of The Dudley Award ya have to be on a Big Bear Chopper (pedantic s--t heads) so I guess I get to keep it.
You have to like that ride off the hill with the twisters opening onto the flats and out towards the Diagular Highway, left turn then on to the Woodford Pub, now someone was telling us (Vic from Crazy Paint but you never know if the fumes have got to her on any one day) what a great spot it is after their recent renno's and yeah it's great. Beer and food all good. We stayed a little while then rode back through Peachester and Beerwah.
Rick invited us back to his for a break before heading off home, one of the best back yard bars I've seen. You'll notice Kel (who doesn't drink) having a quiet JB on Ricks coach.
Great day was had. It's always a day out, riding with some good people mixed with a feed and a few beers in a place that's got to be the best in Australia. Beautiful country really!
