A recent trip to America in late Feb was a good one for a lot of reasons...
A mate from VIC came with me to have a look at the Big Bear Factory, meet the team there and help with the final touches on a bike that Kevin is building for him. We stayed down the mountain for the first couple of days as Kevin was still returning from a dealer party in Texas. We took this time to visit with Seth from Aggressive Designs so Russell could discuss the paint theme with him. Seth tried to sell his customized '69 Camaro while we were there. Good car but getting it registered here would have been a problem.
We headed up the mountain about Tuesday, blew me away the first time, still does this sort of country so close to LA
Had a bit of "work" to do at the factory, like check out our first Bear Bones
It was great having Russell along particularly for the laughs, sometimes with him sometimes at him. He's got a gift of talking his way out of screw ups, like when we went down the mountain to Lucerne Valley to have a run on Kevin's Bear Bones. The local Highway Patrol didn't mind that Kevin was lighting up down the road. It's got a 145ci S&S running at about 200hp so what else would he do with it, or us doing 115mph+ just out of town on the road to Barstow. But he was really unhappy about Russell rolling through the Stop sign right in front of him.
Being an Arborist, Russ was blown out by the Joshua Trees all through the area on the northern side of the mountain. I thought The Joshua Tree was an Album ??
Good work on the highway out of Vegas Russ
...thought he would take a pic of the speedo and email it home
...about 20 seconds before we passed Highway Patrolman Murphy
Kevin asked me if I'd like to drive to Vegas with them to drop off Criss Angel's latest Big Bear. Didn't have to think on that one too long. We took Kevins bike in the trailer and shared riding it on the way. I got the last 50 miles or so and rode it into town, what a blast all that was.
Had a look at Criss Angels' show while we were there. I've seen some of his work on TV which is amazing, but to see him live adds a whole other dimension. He's very very talented and entertaining, a great bloke too.
Being in Australia we are only a small part of what BBC does in the States and internationally, but hey, they treat us with the best hospitality and as an important part of it all!
